Description At the foothills of the Himalayas lies an old distillery called Nepal Distilleries Pvt Ltd, the distillery where Coronation Khukri is produced with quality.

Nepal Distelleries was one of the first distilleries to be established in the Nepal area in 1959 by Mr. J.R. Contractor. The place chosen for the location was Kathmandu because the climatic conditions of cold weather and clean air are very important to get fresh water.

The company and its humble beginnings distilling alcohol in ceramic stills that date back to 1870. These ceramic stills still remain in the distillery as a reminder of their beginnings. Currently, distillation takes place through three modern wooden jar columns where the rum matures for a minimum of eight months.

The name Khukri is the name of the traditional knife of Nepal since ancient times, used by the Gurkhas as a symbol of strength and power. The special packaging and name were created to honour the coronation of the King of Nepal, Late Shree Panch Bir Bikram Shah Dev, in 1974. Each bottle is made by hand.

Coronation Khukri is a subtle and complex natural rum that is characterised by its sweet aroma and flat flavour balanced with the oak base. The finest rum from Nepal since 1959, it is known as "the taste of the Himalayas".

Awarded with the gold medal at the International Rum Festival in 2002. In 1983 it had already received the same award.
